It’s summer time again everyone! Are you ready? Warm nights, sandy beaches, hot desert trails, mountain hikes and long days in the bright summer sun. So, its’ time to review our “Sun Sense” points.
For those of you who have taken The Course, we cover this important information in Volume 1 of The Single Source Cancer Course on pages 161 through 167.
Remember skin cancer, including basel cell, squamous cell and melanoma, is the most common cancer in the world! Fortunately, we have a great deal of control over this particular disease.
Here are 4 useful tips:
- First, ALWAYS wear sunscreen on exposed skin – even if you sit in an office all day – because the harmful rays of the sun and the free radicals can penetrate glass – and then REAPPLY your sunscreen every three to four hours – or every two hours if you’re swimming.
- Second, wear a hat AND sunglasses when out in the sun.
- Third, wear UVB and UVA protective clothing when exposed to the sun for long periods of time.
- Fourth, try to avoid the sun during the peak hours of the day, which typically are between 11 AM and 2 PM.
And, of course, if you have not had your full-body check with your dermatologist yet this year, get it now! For those individuals who have already had breast cancer or Hodgkin’s disease, renal and kidney transplant patients, and those with Xeroderma Pigmentosum or chronic skin irritations – take extra precautions.
For those of us in these categories have an increased risk for developing skin cancer. And, of course, those who smoke cigarettes have an increased risk for developing several different cancers including those of the skin. So TAKE CONTROL of the situation – and then have fun and enjoy your summer!
