LIFE LESSONS WITH BETTY BOOP
Hi everyone and welcome to another WELLNESS WEDNESDAY.
Gosh, I’ve been writing my blogs now for several years and as you know, they’re always about health and wellness, both mental and physical. And as a survivor of three different cancers, they often revolve around the topic of cancer, its diagnosis and treatment.
Today, however, my subject is a little different. I’ve written another book and it’s coming out January 21st of next year!
Even more surprising, this book is not about cancer like my first two books. In fact, this book takes an entirely different direction.
Like so many of us, I wear several different hats. I’m an author and an attorney. I’m a fundraiser and volunteer. I’m a friend and family member. And I’m a business woman who for the last twenty years has worked with my husband running our family company, FLEISCHER STUDIOS.
Now, Fleischer Studios was founded by my husband’s grandfather, Max Fleischer, who was a famous inventor and pioneer of animation. Max first brought the characters of Superman and Popeye to the screen, while creating many of his own characters, including the iconic and classic BETTY BOOP.
Today at Fleischer Studios, we concentrate on licensing and merchandising our characters around the world where they appear on everything from luggage and china, to sleepwear and socks, to watches and skateboards. And Betty Boop is the most popular one of all. In fact, Betty is the most successfully licensed female animated character in the world!
So, after years of working with people who have used Betty’s likeness on thousands of products, I decided I should do something of my own with Betty. And that “something” my friends, is this new book!
It’s called Betty Boop’s Guide to a Bold and Balanced Life – Fun, Fierce, Fabulous Advice Inspired by the Animated Icon.
At first, it might seem like this is way off course for me. But nothing could be further from the truth. You see, I’m a wellness advocate. And true overall wellness encompasses not just our physical and mental health, but the way we see and feel about ourselves, our confidence and courage, our ability to see humor in the world and overcome obstacles, the way we interact and respect others, and the compassion we show the world.
True wellness is about the whole package – not just bits and pieces of it.
And what I’ve discovered is that the same issues that all of we modern women face today, are the same issues that Betty faced decades ago.
There are few people in the world that know Betty better than I do! So, I took her old cartoons, gleaned the lessons from them, and put them into a great advice and tip book perfect for all women today – whether they’re Betty Boop fans or not!
Of course, this was a labor of love for me. And I’m so grateful to hubby Mark Fleischer for his support, and to our long-time Fleischer Studios’ publicist, Kristi Ling Spencer, for coming on board with me and co-authoring this book for you!
It’s a delightfully different and inspiring book featuring a refreshing blend of empowering life advice, timeless tips, fascinating history, humorous anecdotes, and scientific studies. Every chapter is punctuated by Betty’s own experiences pulled directly from her treasured cartoons and her fabulous 90-year history. And all pay tribute to the modern woman of today.
It’s an engaging, entertaining and empowering book that will inspire YOU to create the beautiful, bold and balanced life YOU desire and deserve.
I LOVED writing this book. And I sincerely hope you’ll LOVE reading it!
The foundation of wellness is learning how to maximize our best qualities and minimize those that hold us back and keep us from realizing our highest good and our greatest potential.
After 90 years Betty has a message for all of us. And that message is that we are so much stronger than we know, and so much braver than we realize!
I’ll keep you up to date on the book and its progress. I can’t wait to share it with you!
And in the meantime, thanks again everyone for joining me. Stay in GOOD HEALTH and . . .
